Major Medical/Surgical
Major Medical is an optional coverage which may be added to a Mortality policy with limits of $5,000, $7,500 or $10,000 with deductible per policy period. This pays for medical and surgical procedures including diagnostics as a result of accident,illness,injury or disease. This coverage is available for horses ages 30 days old through 20 years old (depending on the company). This can be a very important coverage if you are suddenly faced with unexpected veterinary bills.
Surgical Only
For an additional charge, coverage may be added to the Mortality policy for the cost of surgical operating room surgery. Approved non-surgical aftercare medical fees are also covered. The annual limit is $5000 to cover illness, injury, or accident. Coverage is available for horses aged 30 days to 17 years old. It is not necessary to carry Surgical Only if you choose Major Medical coverage.
